Love this. Any practical how-to's ie if I find a dandelion in my yard how do I make a tea or a salad from it? Any general things to keep in mind?

Dandelions are truly a gift of nature— easy to put on a salad for some extra freshness. When I had a bearded dragon, she loved eating dandelions I picked out of the garden.

I have read that dandelion can also be used to make bread 🍞 and even ice cream 🍦!

I use it to prevent urine infections or cure them when they happen.

Roasted dandelion tea is delicious 😋.

I'm a market gardener who was blessed by a field of wild edibles, including dandelions, when I started my first market garden in the Alps of Austria. I maintained large swaths of that meadow and allowed new ones in beds to stay there until the following spring, because their roots feed earthworms earlier than anything else. In the spring, I sold dandelion leaves to foodies. My neighbor, a retired farmer, spent hours collecting the buds for a chef, who pickled them. The list goes on, but I'll stop here. Great article!

I'm in absolute love with Dandelion. It's the medicine for my inner child! It's just started to pop up around me and it always, always brings smile to my face! And a roasted dandelion root coffee with chicory is just divine! 🌼

I love this. I always leave my dandelions for the bees. And my son who likes to eat the flowers 😅 I want to make a garden and have a special place for them in there so I can harvest some this year for the roots and leaves to make some yummy green salad!

YES! All of that!

I am a big fan of this being.

As s professional gardener. Clients sre surprised when I share its stories, wisdom snd utility. Unless it is truly a problem it stats in my garden building great soil, attracting pollinators etc. if nothing else.

I do harvest buckets of flowers, leaves and roots separately. I ferment them to provide high quality fertilizer. Flowers for flowering plants, leaves for growth and leafy plants, roots for root crops.

Your story is like the cherry atop my sundae of dystopian angst and bucolic rapture.

Interesting read! Thank you 😊. Now if I can just get my husband to quit obsessing over the “weeds” in our lawn. . .

After decades of picking them in the wild for my rabbit companions, I connected with Dandelion intelligence last year. They had a lot to say about resilience and came across as a protective ally. Reading all the sciencey stuff in your article makes me realise just how much I need them in my life!

The way you communicated with the little dandelion 🥹 this was such a wonderful read. Dandelion has long been one of my favourite herbs (I can't say for sure but somehow I feel this started when I first saw Ice Age). One of my favourite warm drinks is a 'dandy' chai with cacao and honey. Such a happy, humble, underrated herb.
